Perspective: Victory or Victim?
More stuff from Numbers 13. Life’s trials and uncharted territory are all about our perspective on them: It’s either “Let’s go up and take the land–now. We can do it,” said by Caleb. Or it’s “We can’t attack those people; they’re way stronger than we are ….Alongside them, we felt like grasshoppers,” said by the 10 spies. I think we should ask the Lord to help us turn the corner from the victim-like spy report to living/pursuing victory–in spite of the size of the circumstance looming over us.
Serious Forgetfulness
“Today I’m sick of trying to live like I can live on my own. This world around me is suffocating, but I keep forgetting to turn and run into You”–Find Me Tonight (Everyday Sunday)
Weird to think that we could actually forget about someone dying for us, giving His life for ours, and providing over and over for our needs–but we do–I do! Why don’t we go to Him first when we are in a jam? Like running away from an ambulance when we are arterially bleeding. I believe we have to get “sick of” trying to do it ourselves; we can never measure up to the power we have access to at His fingertips. The pressures of this world will continually close in on us, that’s a given. The great Pressure-reliever is our Father. What are you relying on that you need to let go of to Him?
Give Up or Keep Pursuing?
“I’m not here to give up; Jesus didn’t give up on me. Even when the goin’ gets rough, I’ve promised God that I’ll be Serious” –Joy Williams (Serious)
God has put us on this earth to be victorious for Him, not to fail our mission. He’s redeemed us and equipped us with all the tools we need for life and godliness. He’s done His part–the hard part. Now it’s up to us to choose to run hard after Him and His Kingdom purposes, or to give up and live life our way. Looking to Jesus should make that decision easier, even though there are many obstacles (the world, the flesh, and the devil) that try to stop us from pursuit of Him. How serious are you pursuing a deeper relationship with Jesus?
